Maria Lister was the daughter of John Lister & Mary born Jan-March 1874 at Eston, Yorks.
Maria (listed as Anne M) was living at home at the time of the 1881 census with her parents & family at Wellington St, Normanby & was still at home in 1891 at Eston, Middlesborough but she was now listed as Maria (aged 18).
In 1901 Maria (now listed as aged 22!) & her brother John were living at home with their widowed mother Mary (60) at North St, Normanby. There was also a boy, Tom (9), listed with them, described as Mary’s son.
Maria (33) was head of the household in 1911 living at 87 North St, South Bank & was described as housekeeper. With her was nephew Thomas Rowlands (19), a clay digger in brick manufacturing, who was the son of Maria’s half-sister Margaret Elizabeth. Presumably this was the boy Tom listed in the 1901 census. There was also a lodger, Albert Broadbent (42), a fitter’s labourer in the steel industry, who had also been lodging with the family in 1901.
